OWNER / CREATIVE DIRECTOR / COMPOSER + FILMMAKER
As an adopted black trans man who grew up in a conservative white neighborhood, I’m no stranger to camouflage, moving through the world guarded, and what it's like to have a story. My name is Remy Styrk and I’m an award-winning composer + filmmaker with 10+ years of experience. I’ve worked with VH1, HBO, KC Ballet, The Grammy Museum, and Octopus Theatricals; studied with Matchbox Twenty, Fallout Boy, Sevendust, and many more; and have been shown in multiple film festivals all over the U.S.
I ask myself “If expressing the vulnerable parts of you didn’t define your whole, what would happen?” The answer is; that I begin to live. I define art as the connection between me and you, and the environment we create. The “content” is only a reflection of that relationship.
To love is to see and be seen. To hurt is to understand and be understood. In the middle is what I do, to represent and be represented. Be honest, be vulnerable, be open and do it with grit and intention.
